KBR gets another FEED contract on cross-border gas Turtle

US engineer KBR has announced the British giant BP’s awarding of a Detailed Engineering Design (FEED) contract for Phase 1 of the Turtle Gas Gas Exploit Hub, which straddles Senegal and Mauritania.

It should be recalled that KBR had already started frontloading work on the same project at the end of 2017. The activities are being executed by its British subsidiary.

The realization of this new project will allow BP and its partner, the American Kosmos, to accelerate the final investment decision on this important project.

A series of contracts was awarded in April / May 2018 by BP to various companies including Technip, BHGE / McDermott and Golar LNG. These contracts are essential for the final investment decision stage.

The new FEED contains clauses that would allow the Texas company to transit at a later date to complete engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM), said Natural Gas World.

It must be said that Golar plans to charter a floating liquefaction unit (FLNG) for the project which will have a liquefaction capacity of 2.3 to 2.5 Mtpa, by 2021.
