Signing of two financing agreements between Tunisia and the IDB Group

The Minister for Development, Investment and International Cooperation, Mohamed Abdelkefi Fadhel, and the Director General of the International Islamic Society for Trade Finance (SIFC), Hani SONBOL, signed on Thursday two financing agreements Of imports from the Tunisian Company of the refining industries (STIR) of crude oil and petroleum products, amounting to USD 150 million (362 MD) and imports of STEG of natural gas, in the order of 160 (382 MD), apart from the participation of Tunisia in the 42nd Annual Meeting of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IDB), held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) from 16 to 19 May 2017.

The two sides also agreed to finance projects for two Saida dams in Cap Bon et de Kalaa Kobra à Sousse, with a budget of some € 72 million (173 MD).

These two projects, whose total cost amounts to 599 MD, aim to solve the problem of the drinking water deficit, in the regions of Great Tunis Cap Bon and coastal cities. They are also intended to supply these regions with additional amounts of irrigation water.

The Minister of Development, Investment and International Cooperation, in a meeting with the IDB President, Bandar Al Hajjar, of the will of Tunisia to strengthen financial cooperation with the IDB.

For his part, Al-Hajjar expressed the will of the Islamic Bank to continue the support of Tunisia and accompany it in the realization of its future projects, as well as its willingness to study any future funding request.

Two exhibitions were organized by IFAP and ATCT, outside the IDB meetings, the next edition of which will be held in April 2018 in Tunis.
